Chapter 225 - Ace vs Gary.........AGAIN

"Amaura, use Aurora Beam!"

"AmAURAAAAAAAA!" The Tundra pokemon cried out beautifully as it expelled a multi-colored beam of light into the air.

"Rookidee, dodge it and dive down to give it a Rock Smash!"

"RookiDEEEEEEE!"

The little bird nimbly avoided the Aurora Beam before diving down at Amaura as his claws started gowing with fighting type energy.

"Ah! Amaura, dodge it!"

"Maura?!"

"DEE!"

Not being anywhere as agile as Rookidee, Amaura was unable to avoid the attack as he smashed into it with his glowing claws.

"Maura..." It cried out pitifully, before collapsing to it's side in defeat.

"No! Amaura!" The little girl across from me cried out as she ran out onto the arena to check on her pokemon. At the same time, Rookidee came back to my side and perched on my shoulder while puffing his chest up with pride.

"Amaura is unable to battle! Rookidee wins!" Cried out one of the girl's MANY brothers, Tommy, while my opponent, Yolonda, was still checking on her Amaura.

"That was well-fought Yolonda." I told her while aproaching with Rookidee still perched on my shoulder. "However, you need to learn to cater your battling style to your pokemon. Amaura is nowhere near as agile as Rookidee, so ordering it to dodge incoming attacks may not work. Instead, I would suggest teaching it Protect to defend itself, or learning to use it's moves in a defensive manner to protect against attacks."

"Sniff... Thanks for the advice Ace." Yolonda said while sniffling from how her pokemon had been defeated. From what I knew, this was her first ever battle.

"Alright! My turn! My turn!" Declared another of Brock's siblings, the oldest boy after Brock, Forrest.

"Hey! Its MY turn!" Stated another of the brothers, Salvadore, as he started bickering with his older brother.

"Alright, knock it off." I said as I tried to break up the argument, even as the rest of Brock's siblings began to bicker and argue.

Apparently, I had been put on babysitting duty for Brock's siblings as he and Lucy went down to explore the cavern some more after all of the excitment yesterday, in exchange for them reviving several of my fossils for the professor to study along with the pokemon I caught yesterday. And at first I had no problem, since several of them had their own pokemon and I could use the chance to battle them and help my own get experience, but all this bickering was more than a little annoying.

"Instead of fighting, why don't the two of you battle me at once in a double battle?" I suggested, prompting them to all look at me as their bickering ceased.

"You both send out one pokemon, and battle together, while I send out two and do the same." I explained, and their expressions quickly lit up.

"Alright! Come on out, Shieldon!" Slavadore declared as he tossed out a pokeball, which opened to reveal one of the small defensive pokemon.

"Tyrunt, front and center!" Cried out Forrester, to which I cocked a brow as the Royal Heir pokemon appeared.

"Huh. I never though Brock would give one of you THAT pokemon." I said as I examined the Tyrunt, recalling how Brock tried to warn me about how dangerous they were.

"Yeah... Brock really didn't want me to have a Tyrunt for my first pokemon, but I begged and begged and begged him after I heard he sent YOU one!" Forrester explained as he looked at me with obvious admiration.

"Haaa... Alright then! I choose you, Chimchar! Machop!"

"Char~!"

"Chop chop!"

Chimchar and Machop appeared opposite Tyrunt and Shieldon, both prepared to fight as the former leapt up and down lightly, and the latter flexed his muscles.

"Begin the match!" Tommy declared.

"Tyrunt, use Fire Fang on Machop!"

"Shieldon, use Tackle on Chimchar!"

Both pokemon rushed forward as they charged Machop and Chimchar respectively, Tyrunt with it's jaws aflame while Shieldon lowered it's head to use it like a battering ram.

I fought back a snort as I reminded myself that these two were just inexperienced kids, and instead just focused on giving orders.

"Chimchar, dodge and use Power-Up Punch."

"CHAR!"

As Shieldon tried to Tackle him, Chimchar deftly jumped to the side and avoided it before driving his fist into Shieldon's side, dealing significant damage due to it's rock/steel typing.

"Shieldon!"

Machop however just stood there and took Tyrunt's attack head on, not even trying to dodge or defend himself in the slightest as Tyrunt latched onto him with fiery fangs.

"Revenge."

"CHOP!"

Without hesitation, Machop drove his fist into Tyrunt's body to deal double the damage that had been dealt to him as the fossil pokemon was sent flying.

"Tyrunt!"

"Now Chimchar, use Flame wheel and Machop use Ice Punch."

"MACHOP!"

Machop immediately rushed at Tyrunt and slammed his ice-covered fist into it as it struggled to get up, damaging it some more while also covering it in ice.

Chimchar on the other hand...

"Char...."

I frowned as, instead of attacking as I commanded, Chimchar appeared hesitant, and scared.

"Shieldon, use Ancient Power!" Salvadore yelled, obviously taking advantage of Chimchar's momentary lapse.

"Shield!"

Shieldon cried out as several chunks of hardened earth rose up from the arena and flew at Chimchar to pepper him with attacks.

"Char!"

"Char!"

"Char!"

"CHAR!"

Chimchar cried out as he was sent sprawling to the ground after taking all of the stones, while I also felt Shieldon grow stronger as the move passively strengthened it.

"Chop!" Machop cried as he rushed forward to help Chimchar.

"Stop." I told him, and he halted in his place while looking at me in confusion. I just ignored him though while looking at Chimchar as he struggled to get up.

"What's wrong with you Chimchar?" I asked him.

"Char?" Chimchar uttered confusedly in response.

"You were fine just a moment ago. So why aren't you battling now?"

"Char char, Chimchar..." He said worriedly.

"Haaa... Is that all?" I asked.

"!?!"

"I already started you on meditation training and fire control. Plus if you go berserk again, then I would just have Gardevoir stop you again. Being scared will only hurt you in the long run, and make it a sure thing that you will lose control." I told him tiredly, as Chimchar stated that he was scared of going berserk and trying to hurt me like he had last time.

Truthfully, the only real answer for getting that outrageous power under control would probably be evolving Chimchar into Monferno or Infernape.

Evolution wasn't just about becoming more powerful. Pokemon also matured with each evolution and were able to get a better grasp of their abilities, learning how to control things like fire, water and rock with more ease, efficiancy, and power.

"Char...." Chimchar uttered, before he slapped himself with his palms.

"CHIMCHAR!" He cried out challengingly, right as his body began to glow.

"Oh~?" I whistled as Chimchar started to evolve. Maybe it was the lack of confidence he had holding him back, remaining even from when was with Paul?

Either way, this would only help Chimchar, or Monferno now, to grow stronger both mentally and physically as his evolution finished.

"MONFEEEEEEERNO!" He cried out while I check the Pokedex to see if he learned any new moves.

"Nice~!" I smirked while directing a look at Salvadore. "You're gonna wish you took advantage of Chimchar's hesitation earlier. Mach Punch."

"Monferno!"

Moving faster than any of us could follow, Monferno launched himself at Shieldon before hammering it with powerful blows. Even it's armored head was unable to defend it from him as it went down.

"Shieldon and Tyrunt are both unable to battle! Machop and Monferno win!" Tommy declared, officialy ending the match as both Machop and Monferno approached me.

"Well done." I said as they approached me, before patting Monferno on the head.

"Hesitation is one of the greatest enemies anyone will ever face. Never doubt yourself, or you will assuredly lose." I told him.

"Mon!" Monferno stated, declaring that he won't hesitate again.

"Now get some rest." I told them, recalling both Machop and Monferno to their pokeballs, before turning to Brock's siblings. "This seems like a good enough time to have some lunch. Anyone else?"

A chorus of cries in agreement answered me, and we all exited the arena to go find something to eat.

Compared to the night we arrived, the tensions in the air around camp had dissipated almost entirely after our discoveries yesterday. The primary reasons for that were the discovery below us, as well as the fact that there had been no further incidents ever since I caught Regirock.

The Legendary pokemon had obviously been the cause of those previous events, the Rockslides, Earthquakes and so on that had been responsible for so many failed expeditions in the past. But since hit was captured by me, both the incidents and the hostile feel in the air had ceased.

Because of that, I was able to set up my other Capsules with little fear of them being destroyed by a sudden Earthquake, and we didn't need to arrange pokemon guards around the campsite.

Brock's siblings and I made our way to the Pokemon Center where Joy was working alongside the other Nurses Joy and Chloe, while Janine was busy working as an extra guard to make sure no one was going where they weren't supposed to with the prehistoric pokemon.

"Hey Ace! Joy and I were just about to bring these to you guys!" Chloe said as she held up a platter full of grilled sandwiches.

"Nice! Guess we saved you a trip." I said as we all sat around one of the dining tables and she set the platter down in front of us.

"So how are things going here?" I asked while taking a sandwich.

"Pretty good." Chloe answered as she sat across from me. "Professor Oak is still examining your new pokemon. That Aerodactyl was BIG! It took up just about the entire examination room." Chloe said with awe as she tried to use her hands to show me just how big Aerodactyl was.

"Yeah? We're just lucky that he didn't manage to carry anyone off before Charizard beat him." I told her, recalling how it felt to see that damn thing flying yesterday.

But, on the plus side, Aerodactyl could easily transport a few of us should the need arise. He may not be as fast as Pidgeot at flying, but he had size and could presumably drift on the winds for incredibly long periods of time.

I still couldn't wait until my bird was able to fly again though.

"Hm?"

I looked up mid-bite as I felt someone approaching, someone I knew very well.

"You might want to go get the professor." I told Chloe while rising to my feet, and heading to the door.

"Huh?! Ok!" Chloe said as she hurried to do what I told her.

I stepped outside the Pokemon Center and looked up into the sky to the north, where a single figure was flying towards us.

I watched as they circled the encampment once, before coming down to land right in front of me, the pokemon's wings kicking up quite the wind as it did so.

"Sup Gare-bear." I called out to none other than Gary Oak, who immediately jumped off of his Aerodactyl's back before fixing me with an intense look.

"Battle me Ace." He immediately demanded in a no-nonsense voice.

"Oh I'm doing fine. How about you." I responded sarcastically to his demand.

"I'm not kidding Ace. Battle me." Gary repeated as he pulled out a pokeball, his eyes intense as his aura flared emotionally.

"Haaa." I sighed in the face of his determination, before pointing a thumb to my arena. "Alright. We can battle in there."

Gary followed me as more and more people noticed us, especially Red as he also approached the arena with interest.

"Little Gary Oak?" Red asked when we were close enough.

"I'm not 'little'." Gary scowled irritably, before I led the way into the arena.

"Holy..."

"Yep." I said to his awe at the arena, recalling when I saw it for the first time as well.

I led him down to the arena itself, while Red, Chloe and a few others sat in some of the stands including Brock's siblings, and the professor.

"Any special rules Gary?" I asked as we both took our place, while Joy hurried up to control box to officiate the match. Soon, our faces were shown on the big screen above us.

"A standard six on six. But, aside from my starter, I plan to only use the pokemon I got recently." Gary declared as six pokeballs showed up on the screen beside each of our faces, showing how many pokemon we both had left.

"Alright then." I said while pulling out my Pokedex and swapping some of my pokemon around. Several of them had already battled today after all.

Once that was done, the professor took it upon himself to act as the referee as he stood between Gary and I.

"This will be an official battle between Gary Oak and Ace Ketchum. Six pokemon on each side, and the first side to lose all six will be the loser. Begin!"

"Rhyhorn, you're up!" Gary declared as he readily sent out his first pokemon.

"RHYYYYYYYYYYYYHORN!"

The Rhyhorn roared while stamping it's foot down onto the ground intimidatingly.

"Alright. I choose you, Rowlet!"

"Rowl~!" Rowlet cooed as he appeared, a feathery ball of pure fluff that made Gary widen his eyes incredulously.

"Rowlet?! How?!"

"A trade with professor Kukui." I told him bluntly.

"..."

"Rhyhorn, use Smack Down!"

"HORN!"

At Gary's command, Rhyhorn launched several rocks into the air at Rowlet.

"Intercept them with Razor Leaf!" I immediately ordered Rowlet.

"Rowl!"

With a cry, Rowlet quickly began to spin in air while also producing numerous bladed leaves that sliced clean through the rocks that Rhyhorn was shooting at him.

It was a move that Rowlet only just BARELY learned, and therefore still didn't have very good control or aim of. But, on the other hand he produced so many Razor Leaves while using the move this way that aiming was a moot point. Now if only doing this didn't make him so dizzy...

"Keep it up for as long as you can, and try to hit Rhyhorn too!" I told him.

"Row...let!"

Rowlet spun even faster and produced even more Razor Leaves as they rained down upon Rhyhorn, slicing right through it's otherwise nearly impenetrable armor to signficantly damage it.

"Rhyhorn! Use Rock Blast!" Gary quickly tried to order it, but it was pointless. Being both ground and rock type, grass type attacks were doubly effective against Rhyhorn. It wasn't long until it collapsed to the ground.

"Rhyhorn is unable to battle!" The professor declared as the pokemon fell, and Gary recalled his pokemon with a bitter expression.

"Come on back Rowlet." I called to my little owl, who promptly flew back to my side and perched on my head with a regal look about him.

"You're next, SCYTHER!" Gary immediately called as he sent out his next pokemon.

"Scyther!" It cried as it appeared, brandishing it's bladed arms threateningly.

"Scyther huh?" I said while fingering my pokeballs thoughtfully, before deciding on which one I was going to use.

"I choose you, Snover!"

"SNOVE~!" Snover trilled as he appeared, right before the temperature began to drop slightly and shards of ice filled the air courtesy of Snover's Snow Warning ability.

"Fury Cutter!" Gary declared as soon as the battle began.

"SCYTHER!"

The Scyther moved so fast that it looked like it had vanished as it shot at Snover, slashing him with both of it's blades to deal significant damage.

"Ingrain." I told Snover as he was attacked, and he quickly laid down several roots that buried themselves into the ground. Not only would they hold him there for several minutes, but they would also steadily heal his wounds and restore his stamina as he absorbed nutrients from the ground.

"Use Double Team and Wing Attack!" Gary ordered Scyther, as it blurred once more before numerous copies began to appear in the increasing hailstorm. And even as they all shot forward to attack Snover, I noticed them grimacing as miniscule shards of ice pelted it.

"Powder Snow in every direction!" I ordered Snover, who did as I commanded even as Scyther attacked him once again.

"SNOVE~!"

Snover cried out as he sent freezing cold air and snow in every direction, hitting Scyther despite it's speed and eliminating all of it's copies.

"Now Ice Shard."

"Sno!"

With Scyther being affected by the Snow Warning, as well as the Powder Snow, it was easy for Snover to hit it as he barraged Scyther with razor-sharp chunks of ice.

"Scyth.....Scyther..." It groaned, before collapsing to the ground.

"Scyther is unable to battle!" Professor Oak declared, making Gary's scowl deepen as he recalled his pokemon.

"Rowlet, mind using Razor Leaf on Snover's roots?" I asked the starter that was still perched atop my head, as I couldn't recall Snover until his roots from Ingrain faded, which would take several more minutes.

"Rowl~!" He cooed in response before taking flight, and then doing just that to slice right through the roots.

"Snove~!" Snover trilled happily as he returned to my side.

"Good job." I told him seriously, making him even happier while Gary tossed out his next pokeball.

"Go, Kangaskhan!"

"KHAAAAAAAAAN!"

The Kangaskhan that Gary sent out roared as she focused on us intently, obviously being stronger than the previous two pokemon Gary sent out.

"I choose you, Aerodactyl!"

"SCREYAAAAAAA!"

I felt everyone around us flinch as Aerodactyl let out an ear-piercing screech, and their nerves increase as he glided above us and looked down on everyone like we were his prey. And a few flaps of his wings was all that was needed to disperse the remnants of Snover's Snow Warning.

The moment he made eye-contact with me though, Aerodactyl focused his attention on Kangaskhan since she was obviously to be his opponent. Needless to say that we already had our meeting earlier in the morning for the first time since I caught him.

And the entire time Gary's eyes never left him, probably comparing my Aerodactyl to his own that he got from Brock.

"Kangaskhan, use Ice beam!"

"KANGAAAAAAAAAS!"

Opening her mouth, Kangaskhan immediately opened the battle by firing a powerful Ice Beam that even dropped the temperature in the arena by a few degrees.

"Take it head on. Iron Head." I ordered Aerodactyl, who immediately dove down while coating his head in layers of steel type energy.

*SHIIIIIIIIIIIIING!*

The Ice Beam did practically nothing to Aerodactyl as his rock typing and the steel typing of his attack protected him, though if he'd taken that move without Iron Head it would be a different story. But with it he was able to dive straight down and ram Kangaskhan to deliver a devestating attack to her.

"Now use Counter!" Gary quickly ordered as Aerodactyl made contact with Kangaskhan, who quickly reacted as she retaliated to deal twice as much damage to him than what he'd done to her.

"Not bad~." I said with a lighthearted whistle as Aerodactyl took flight once more despite his injuries. And even if she managed to get him in return, that didn't undo the damage he had already dealt to Kangaskhan.

"Now let's finish this with Dragon Breath." I told Aerodactyl, who immediatey gathered Draconic flames in his mouth before raining them down onto Kangaskhan.

"!!!"

"Endure!" Gary tried to tell his pokemon, even as she was bathed in draconic flames that engulfed the entire arena.

Each second felt like an hour as Aerodactyl continued his attack, until he finally cut the flames off and looked down at the place where Kangaskhan was standing with a smug smirk. And there she still stood, just barely holding on after using Endure.

"Kangas...."

*Crash.*

Kangaskhan fell then, unable to have truly Endured ALL of the damage from the Dragon Breath.

"Truly an awesome display of power..." I heard professor Oak mutter from here, and he wasn't the only one impressed. Aerodactyl then landed in the middle of the arena and spread his wings while letting loose another ear-piercing shriek.

"SCREEEEEEEEEEEYA!"

Translation: Fear me worthless weaklings!

I rolled my eyes at his arrogance, born of an entire lifetime being the ruler of the 'sky' in the underground world.

"Return." I said, calling Aerodactyl back to his pokeball before he could try and inflate his ego further. Meanwhile Gary also recalled his Kangaskhan, his expression growing even more bitter.

"Your turn, Heracross!" He cried while sending out the next pokemon.

"Here-cross!" Heracross shouted as it appeared, putting it's claws up as it did so to indicate it's readiness to fight.

"You're up, Tinkatink!"

"Tink Tink!" Tinkatink cried as she appeared, looking positively TINY compared to Heracross, but not caring in the slightest as she brandished her hammer threateningly.

"Heracross, use Arm Thrust!"

"Cross!" The Single Horn pokemon cried as it shot forward, both arms at the ready to pumel Tinkatink.

"Fairy Wind." I told Tinkatink before Heracross could reach her, and she immediately began to twirl her hammer overhead to generate a swirling wave of pinkish wind.

"!!!"

"Cross!"

Heracross cried out as it was enveloped in the pinkish wind, halting it's momentum as it struggled to resist the damage it was receiving. But how was it supposed to fight the wind?

"Heracross! Don't let them distract you!" Gary cried out, urging his pokemon to continue it's attack.

"Baby-Doll Eyes." I told Tinkatink, who immediately began to flutter her eyes at Heracross in such a way that it lowered it's resolve to fight. Even as it eventually delivered the Arm Thrusts to Tinkatink, they were nowhere near as powerful as they could have been.

"Use Brick Break!" Garry ordered next, and Heracross brought it's horn down in a vicious chop onto Tinkatink.

"Take it with your hammer!" I told her, and Tinkatink did just that right as Heracross's attack came down onto her.

"Tinnnnnnnk...." She groaned under the power of Heracross's attack, her strength faltering the longer it went on.

"Deflect it to the side!"

"Tink!"

Tinkatink angled her hammer to one side, allowing Heracross's attack to hit the ground instead as she prepared the next attack.

"Now Metal Claw!"

"Tinkaaaaaaaaaaaa...." Tinkatink growled as she wound up the attack, right as she began to glow.

"Fuck yeah." I exclaimed while pumping my fist as the little hammer gremlin began to evolve right before our eyes, easily growing at least another foot before the glow died down.

"TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUFF!"

Tinkatink, now Tinkatuff, cried out as she delivered a full powered Metal Claw directly to Heracross's midsection, sending it flying into the side of the arena with enough force that it hit the the arena wall.

"Tuff tuff!" She declared while waving her hammer around to egg heracross on for more, except it was already defeated.

"Heracross is unable to battle!" The professor declared as the dust cleared.

"Nicely done, Tinkatuff." I told her as she too returned to my side with Snover and Rowlet.

"Tuff~!" She stated while puffing out her chest, before turning her attention to her hammer. Now it was too small for her.

Again, Gary recalled his fainted pokemon as it became obvious which direction the battle was going. Which didn't surprise me at all.

As far as I could tell, Gary had JUST caught all of the pokemon he had used so far, meaning he had not been able to take very much, if ANY, time to train them yet. Meanwhile, I already had time to train the pokemon I had used a little bit, aside from Aerodactyl of course. But as an alpha he already had enough power to more than hold his own in battle against Gary.

His next pokemon surprised me though, as he tossed out the pokeball.

"Go, Dreepy!"

"Dreeeeeeeeeeepy" The ghostly dragon wailed as it appeared in the arena, floating several feet above the ground.

"Dreepy huh?" I muttered while thinking, before grabbing the pokeball that seemed the most OBVIOUS choice. "I choose you, Deino!"

"DEEEEEEINO!"

The Irate pokemon roared as he appeared, before looking around for his opponent.

"Tch." I heard Gary click his tongue in annoyance, as we both chose the pokemon we won from the tournament.

"Let me be your eyes." I whispered to Deino, before linking our auras slightly to allow him to tell where Dreepy was. Not a full synchronization, but enough to share the senses.

"Sucker Punch!" Gary started us yet again, and his Dreepy immediately disappeared before reappearing right in front of Deino to slug him right in the face.

"Bite!"

"DEIN!"

Deino roared as he lunged where the punch had come from, and Bit down onto Dreepy.

"DREEEEEEE!" Dreepy cried out in pain, being a ghost type that was weak to dark type attacks.

"Disable!" Gary quickly ordered with a smirk.

"Dreeeeeepy~!"

The ghostly dragon wailed sinisterly as it used the move Disable, which sealed Deino's ability to use the move Bite for a short while. Though it could be long enough secure a win if they did this right. Unfortunately for them, I didn't intend to give Gary that chance.

"Deino, use Dragon Breath!" I ordered Deino, allowing him to 'see' where Dreepy was in order to properly direct his attack as he bathed it in draconic flames.

"Dreeeeeee....." Dreepy wailed one last time, before it promptly fainted from the attack.

"Dreepy is unable to battle!" The professor declared, as Gary lost yet ANOTHER pokemon.

"Good job Deino. Come on back." I called out to my little dragon, who happily trotted back to my side.

"You did really good." I said while patting him on his head, as this was the first time I used Deino in battle.

*Glomp.*

"..."

*Munch munch munch.*

"..."

I was speechless as Deino not only promptly bit my hand, but also started chewing it without a care.

"That hurts Deino..." I eventually said.

* Munch munch munch.*

"Haaa..."

All I could do was sigh as I recalled Deino to his pokeball with my free hand. Thankfully the hand he had been chewing on wasn't actually hurt. Hopefully it was just Deino's way of showing affection.

Then again, his aura was the same whenever I fed him...

"This is it!" Gary declared, drawing my attention back to him as he held up his final pokeball.

"GO, BLASTOISE!"

"BLAAAAAAAAST!"

Gary's Blastoise roared as it appeared in the arena, it's cannons primed and ready for battle. But Gary wasn't done yet.

"Now Blastoise..... LET'S DO IT!"

As he shouted out, Gary held up his arm to display the Keystone embedded in the bracelet he was wearing on it, which began to glow brilliantly as Blastoise was encased in the sphere of Mega Evolution.

"Can't say I didn't see this coming." I commented, recalling that all of us to made it into the top eight of the tournament received either a Keystone and Mega Stone, or just Mega Stones if we already had the former.

As Blastoise finished it's Mega Evolution, it had the same appearance my Blastoise had as the two cannons on it's back merged into one, while both of it's hands also had twin cannons on the back of them.

"If that's how you want to play this, fine." I said while holding up my own pokeball, before throwing it into the arena.

"I choose you, REGIROCK!"

"""!!!"""

Shock filled the arena, even before my newly acquired behemoth of stone appeared as it stood across from Blastoise menacingly.

"..."

I could practically hear Gary grinding his teeth in frustration as he beheld my Legendary pokemon. But to his credit, neither he nor Blastoise backed down.

"HYDRO PUMP!" Gary screamed to start the battle.

"BLAAAAAAST!"

Blastoise roared as it fired a powerful blast of water from the cannon on it's back, a blast powerful enough to rival an attack from my own Blastoise. And he was a damn alpha.

"Iron Defense." I ordered regirock calmly.

"Beep boop."

Regirock didn't even flinch as the water attack hit it, even though it was supposed to be weak against them like Lucario's fighting and steel. Then again, Lucario had to hammer Regirock over, and over, and over, and OVER again before any of his attacks even affected it.

"Use Stomp. But make sure to hold back so you don't kill it." I told it even as Gary and Blastoise continued their attack. Hydro Pump was probably the strongest water type move it knew.

"Bop beep." Regirock beeped in answer, before it began to walk towards Blastoise at a torturously slow, yet ominous, pace.

"Use Surf!" Gary hurriedly ordered across from me, and his Blastoise ceased the Hydro Pump that it had been using until now.

"BLAST!"

Blastoise roared as it summoned a wave of water that washed over the entire arena, even submerging Regirock as it did so.

"Now turn it into Whirpool!"

"Oh?" I muttered at the maneuver that Gary was trying to pull off, which I recognized from Red's battle against Blue. I wonder what Gary's father would think if he knew his son was using a technique that Red used against him?

Regardless, it was interesting to watch as not only was Regirock completely submerged in water, but then the water began to rapidly churn and violently spin around it.

"NOW! USE RAPID SPIN!" Gary yelled as he obviously tried to keep this apparent momentum up, prompting Blastoise to jump into the Whirlpool as it withdrew it hands, feet, tail and head into it's shell, and began to spin rapidly.

The result was actually quite interesting, as now Regirock was constantly being bombarded by Blastoise using Rapid Spin, except it apparently gave complete control of it's movements to the Whirlpool that also increased it's momentum.

"I'll have to give that a try." I heard Red say from where he was watching the battle, which I silently agreed with. As for the effectiveness of this technique...

*BOOM!*

*CRASH!*

"..."

Gary appeared completely and uttery speechless, and I couldn't blame him as the whirlpool petered out, and the water began to subside to reveal Regirock, looking completely unharmed with it's foot raised up. And then there was Blastoise, currently embedded in the wall behind Gary where Regirock had kicked it.

"Blastoise is unable to battle! Ace and Regirock win!" Professor Oak declared.
